1 Hour Bread

1 Hour Bread

I love this recipe because it really is so easy and doesn’t take up all of your day, like most bread can. I want you to make things at home, but I do realize time isn’t always something we are blessed with and saving time is a must for many. This bread has been perfect when I’m in a pinch and don’t want to take 2+ hours to make bread for my family or if I just don’t have the time.

This bread comes out so soft and also perfect for sandwiches. The cinnamon swirl is a super fun option as well if you are looking for something sweet.

Optional, Cinnamon Filling Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 Tbsp butter
  • 3 Tbsp coconut sugar
  • 1 heaping tsp cinnamon
  • Melt the butter and pour into a tiny bowl, mix in the cinnamon and sugar.

Bread Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cup warm water + 1-3 tsps  (I use purified water)
  • 1/2 Tbsp coconut sugar (organic per usual)
  • 1 Tbsp of dry active yeast
  • 1 teaspoon of salt (I use Redmond’s Real Salt)
  • 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour (organic per usual)

Recipe:

In your mixer add the 1 1/2 cups warm water, coconut sugar and yeast.

Mix , I just mix with my mixer, if needed you can use a whisk or spoon.

Let it sit for 5+ minutes for the yeast to activate (you will see it get bubbly).

I like to cover mine, but you don’t have to.

While this sets I butter my loaf pan. I use a 9X5 inch glass pan.

You could also use stainless steel.

But please, if you can, toss your toxic non-stick or aluminum pans & replace them with glass or stainless steel. If you need to make some swaps, I shared a ton of options here.

Next add your salt and 3.5 cups of flour to your mixer. I’ve added one cup at a time (mixing in between) and I’ve also added all at once and both ways they turn out the same, so depending on your baking style, proceed as you like.

With a dough hook attachment, knead the dough on low speed until it no longer sticks to your hands.

If the dough looks a little dry add 1 tsp of water at a time. No more than 3 tsp will be needed.

Let the dough to rest for about 5 minutes, again I like to cover it while it rests.

Optional- if you want a cinnamon sugar swirl loaf:

  • Next place the dough out onto your work surface. You will be stretching it into a rectangle.
  • Sprinkle about half or little more of your cinnamon sugar mixture onto the rectangle (not too close to the edges).
  • Then, fold the top edge to the center, then the bottom edge up and over that first fold.
  • Next sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon sugar mixture onto the dough again.
  • Starting from one short end (opposite from your originally fold), roll the dough tightly into a log
  • Then seal the edges by pinching the dough.

For a regular loaf:

  • Next place the dough out onto your work surface. You will be stretching it into a rectangle.
  • Then, fold the top edge to the center, then the bottom edge up and over that first fold.
  • Starting from one short end (opposite from your originally fold), roll the dough tightly into a log
  • Then seal the edges by pinching the dough.

Place the loaf into the buttered loaf pan.

Optional- but totally worth it! Add an egg wash to the top of the loaf and score your bread a few times across the top. Do not score the bread long ways, go from side to side on top, a few times, vs one end to the other.

Place the loaf pan into the NOT preheated oven.

Now turn the oven on to 350.

Once the oven reaches 350, set the timer to 25 minutes.

At 25 minutes pull it out, let it cool on a rack for at least 15 minutes, then cut & enjoy!
