Homemade Breadcrumbs

Homemade Breadcrumbs

This is a GREAT way to use up any leftover bread that isn’t going to be eaten.

Working on the photography for this this, because every time I make it, I forget to capture photos and then when I go to use it, I’m diving into some raw ground beef. But I promise, photos to come… eventually. 🙂

Ingredients:

bread (typically it’s about to get stale or just starting to go stale)

Recipe:

Cut or tear all bread into small pieces and spread over a pan.

Bake in the oven on 325 for 10-15 minutes, then flip/toss the bread and bake for another 10-15 mins. (This really depends how small you make your bread pieces)

If they feel firm, bring the pan out and let them completely cool.

Blend in the blender until fine.

Optional: Pour back into the pan and bake for another 5-10 minutes on 325 if they seem to need more crisping. This is only if you felt the breadcrumbs once cooled (prior to blending) felt they weren’t crispy enough. The point is to get all moisture out or it won’t store properly. Then let the breadcrumbs cool.

Once cooled add to a mason jar/container and use within a couple months.

Note: I add my spices when making my dish, I do not add them to my breadcrumbs for storage. When making Italian breadcrumbs I add salt, pepper, oregano and powered garlic to my breadcrumbs.
