Bathroom Swaps

If you are on a wellness journey like I have been, then I hope you find this helpful. There is so much more information and awareness now than there was when I started this journey. However it still can be tricky to navigate what swaps to make. I feel like you hear what is toxic, but not always what you can replace the toxic items in your home with. My hope is to make the transition easier. 

Why do we make these swaps? We want to reduce the toxic load on our bodies. Although our bodies are so wonderful and made to combat toxins, there are just too many these days. From synthetic fragrance, to toxic cleaners and toxic coatings on cooking materials. We are surrounded by toxins and so we do our best to be aware and reduce those in our home and give our body the nutrients it needs to work properly and keep chronic illness and disease away.

Here are some swaps we have made in our bathroom.

1️⃣ Razor:

Your plastic razor with those moisture strips are toxic. I know, wild that these are sold to us! Not only is it toxic touching your skin, when you shave you are exfoliating your skin & exposing it even more. Making ti more susceptible to these toxins. Your skin is your largest organ and as Americans we put way too many toxins on it multiple times a day. Switching out my razor was something I didn’t even think about for a long time. 2️⃣ Toothpaste:

This was something I didn’t think about for a while also. But you guys, it goes in your mouth! I think it’s just a routine thing we don’t even think about & honestly that’s what took me so long. 3️⃣ Deo/Make Up/Skincare:

Our skin is our largest organ and so we do need to be mindful of what we put on it. I use Little Seed Farm Deodorant & LOVE IT! 4️⃣ Bathroom Cleaners:

We use Branch Basics (use code: BUSYLITTLEIZZY) and Force of Nature.

Branch Basics uses a concentrate that you mix with water to make cleaners, hand soaps and laundry detergent. It’s all in one and that is why I love it! It’s plant and mineral based, biodegradable & fragrance free! Toss your detergents and use this! It is my favorite. They have an Oxy boost I love to add for tough stains or washes like towels that may need an extra boost.

Force of Nature uses electricity to convert salt, water & vinegar into a multi-purpose cleaner, deodorizer and EPA registered disinfectant. Even though it has no toxic fumes or residues, it kills viruses and bacteria as effectively as bleach. This is what I use to clean windows, the shower, bathrooms counters, the kitchen counters (after prepping raw meat) & beyond. You can also use this to freshen air and sanitize fabrics.

5️⃣ Hand Soap:

Most Soaps are full of toxic ingredients such as fragrances, parabens, sodium laureate sulfate, triclosan, methylisothiazolinone & methylchloroisothiazolinone. 6️⃣ Shower Soap & Shampoo/Conditioner:

I was on the search for a while for a great shampoo and conditioner bar duo & Rowe delivered! For conditioner, she uses the same one as me. They honestly have so many amazing products! We have their dog wash, hair styling products and more! The first product of theirs I used was their swim spray, which we apply to our skin prior to swimming in a pool with chlorine.

We love Earthley products & use them for cleaning & wellness. Here are our favorites: the bar shampoo, bar body soaps, kitchen bar soap (the lemon-thyme is my fav), the wooden soap holders, all purpose salve, black drawing salve (perfect for bug bites, ant bites etc), pest aside & the sensitive good night lotion (magnesium cream, which is a must at bedtime for myself, my husband and my daughter.)
