How To Keep Your Winter Skin Happy

This post is sponsored by Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant, however all options expressed are 100% my own.
With the cold among us we must remember to care for our skin. Here are some tips I picked up from Dove Dermatologist, Dr. Alicia Barba that will help keep your skin for getting irritated, cracked or dry & looking the best it can.
1. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate
Between the holidays and date night out you may have been consuming alcohol. Not to mention this mama loves her special bedtime drink. One of the biggest things I have learned is hydration is so important. Drinking water helps to decrease inflammation and keep your skin feeling and looking the best it can. Being a person who typically has dry skin and struggles with inflammation, I can attest to this.
2. Have Petroleum Jelly On Hand
Petroleum jelly can be used too many ways! As Dr. Barba says, “It can do wonders for dry or cracked cuticles, elbows and hands.” Did you know it can also double as a few of your beauty products? My mother in law actually uses it to remove her makeup. I learned from Dr. Barba that you can dab a small amount of vaseline on your cheek bones in place of a highlighter...who knew?
3. Deodorant That Doubles As Skin Care
I love my Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant because, it keeps me dry, smelling good and it also cares for my skin. I had smoother softer skin in as little as 3 days! I have super sensitive armpits, yet I still need protection for my underarms which can get super sweaty. TMI? Sorry guys, beyond working out at the gym, I’m a busy mom running around chasing my toddler.
4. Say No To Intense Exfoliation
If you over exfoliate you skin will be stripped of its necessary oils. I learned this can lead to breakouts… yes you read that right! Dr. Barbra stated, “A misconception is that rubbing off dead skin cells daily will improve skin, when it actually can dehydrate it.” I’m guilty of thinking this way, are you?
5. Invest In A Hydrating Cleanser
I have dry skin which is why I invest in a hydrating cleanser. Everyone, but especially those with dry skin, eczema, or psoriasis should consider this tip.
6. Get Into A Bedtime Routine.
Remember we talked about hydrating your skin? A bedtime routine is the perfect time to give your skin some TLC. If your are like me and you looking to decrease collagen breakdown, then try these 3 steps before you crawl into bed: 1. Wash your face. 2. Apply a retinol. 3. Moisturize.
To all my busy women out there, I want to reiterate, Dove Advanced Care Antiperspirant has 48-hour odor and wetness protection! Now you add in skin care benefits for softer, smoother underarms… it’s it no brainer! Give it a try here.

I haaaaate winter because of what it does to my skin. This is the first time I’ve heard or using petroleum jelly like that. I use it on my lips at bedtime and will have to give it a try in place of my other products.
