Lamb and Beef Meatballs with Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes


  • For The Meatballs:
  • 1 lb ground lamb
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup plain or Italian breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan (grated)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp fresh oregano (chopped)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • For The Gravy:
  • 1 medium onion (minced)
  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 6 tbsp flour
  • 3 1/2 cups beef stock
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • For The Potatoes:
  • 8 small red potatoes (diced)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 stick of butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan (grated)
  • 8 garlic cloves (minced


  1. Fill a large pot with water and turn bring to boil.
  2. While water is heating up, in a large bowl, combine all meatball ingredients except the olive oil. Mix with hands and form into small balls. Heat large pan to medium, add olive oil. Cook until crispy, then flip until fully cooked. Remove the meatballs and add the onion and garlic to sauté in the oil.
  3. While the meatballs are cooking. Cut your potatoes and put into pot of boiling water to cook. Use a fork to test. Strain when soft. Dump into a mixing bowl, add all ingredients listed under potatoes.
  4. Start the gravy by adding the onion and garlic sauté into a pot, add flour then slowly add in the beef broth while whisking. Now add the other ingredients. Let simmer until it thickens up, add meatballs to the gravy.
  5. Serve with mashed potatoes on the bottom and cover in gravy and meatballs.
