Izzy loves to paint and color, that’s why her birthday is going to be art themed.
Did you know that art involves self expression and a craft has rules or steps to it? If you have you child making handprints or putting buttons on certain areas of a canvas or paper… that’s not art. That’s okay, it’s important to work on following directions. Be sure to also give your child time for art, even if that means scribbles.
I love exposing Izzy to both arts and crafts because she needs time to just express herself with art and times to practice following directions or waiting for the next step.
Izzy’s Papa has a birthday today so I’m sharing how she created a special art gift for him with a little craftiness from me.
1. Gather Your Supplies
1. Canvas or Wood Palette
2. Paint & Brush
I used acrylic paint, however please monitor your child closely if using that paint with them. If your child is likely to taste test the paint please pick a non toxic paint. Use your own parental discretion when doing art and crafts.
3. Painter’s Tape and Scissors
2. Add the design or words you want with the painters tape
3. Let your child paint away
4. Once dry or dried with a hair dryer, pull off the painters tape
5. Gift it or enjoy it in your home
