The Question That Changed My Life

The Question That Changed My Life

Do you think about your kid(s) future often? Motherhood can be overwhelming and for me being a working at home mom I don’t ever get a minute to myself. I go to every appointment and run all errands with my Izzy. One day as I stood in front of the mirror feeling stressed, smothered by motherhoods 24-7 duties and feeling unattractive from my slow and steady weight gain, I asked myself a question. I somehow found a moment for self reflection.

Do I want Isabella to look at herself and think like this or do I want her to have a healthy and stress free life?

The answer is simple, I want her to be healthy and stress free.

Of course I want my child to feel comfortable in her skin & lead a healthy lifestyle mentally and physically. So if I wanted this for her, why wasn’t I modeling it? Right then I decided I would own my tomorrow. I get up every morning at 5:30 am and have gotten my butt back into the gym. I deserve that alone time. My body needs my heart rate to increase during a workout and not just the million times a day I swear my kid accidentally almost sends herself to the ER. Do you feel like you save your kids life on a daily basis? Please tell me I’m not alone on this one.

gym time

Guys I’m shocked, but I LOVE going to the gym at 5:30 in the morning. I had gone in the past, also early in the morning, but I wasn’t enjoying it like I am now. I love it because I’m showing my child healthy living. I enjoy the endorphins and energy boost that keeps me going throughout the day. Most of all I’m loving my alone time. Mentally it gives me a time during the day that I don’t have to worry about anyone but me and that is something that I really want to teach Isabella one day. She needs to take care of her whole self.

That single question changed how I’m living my life! It’s going to change how my child grows up and how she thinks about me.

So I’m asking you, what question have you asked yourself that changed your life in a positive way?

Is it time for you to make a big change?

How are you going to own your tomorrow?

I’m encouraging you to join in on the conversation. Tell me how you will own your tomorrow#ownyourtomorrow

  • I love this post, Eryka! My husband told me (lovingly) the other day, that maybe this time around during my pregnancy I shouldn’t push myself so hard to workout since I am still chasing around my crazy toddler too. I stopped and thought about it for a second… working out IS the only thing I still do for myself, it makes me feel good. There have been times along my journey of being a new mom that I feel guilty since I workout at home, so most of the time Cohen has had to learn to “independently” play during my workout .. but in the end, I think it’s great for him to see his mommy living a healthy lifestyle. You go girl, can’t wait to hear about the mental and physical results you’re seeing!

    • Thank you Brittany! I think it’s great to have an outlet for yourself! It’s so important for him to see his mommy making healthy choices. I’m loving the extra entry I get from the gym

  • I love your drive, girl! I find myself so many times preaching but not practicing it myself. I need your drive to get back in the gym – health is so important! Any can I say that is picture is beyond adorable 🙂

  • I love this! And I cannot believe this is my first time visiting your blog. I’ve been a bad blogger and not actually blogging for a while! But I’m BACK!! And your blog is so cool. The layout is awesome!

  • So I found your site from that adorable picture on Pinterest. Can’t Stop. Won’t Stop. All Day.Every day. Pretty much sums up my life with my 15 month old daughter. I need those sweatshirts!

I also work from home and I tell ya what, it’s NOT easy. I have become an expert multitasker but some days it literally leaves my head spinning, many times on the verge of being manic inside!

It is encouraging when we are reminded we are not the only ones in this! So, thank you for your post! Today, I will remember to take time for myself and take care of my mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health. Not just for me, but for my beautiful daughter ?

    Happy Easter!

    • Awe Heather thank you so much! I love teaching other parents. Have a wonderful Easter! The tops are from a shop called NickyandStella
