Staying Overnight With Grandparents

What is the worst thing about having your child stay the night somewhere else? All the crap you have to pack! Am I right? Babies and kids come with a lot of stuff!

Joe and I are finally going on a trip, just the two of us! Izzy will be staying with her Nana and Grandad. Packing wise it’s going to be pretty easy. If you have grandparents that take your kids pretty frequently stock their house with all of the essentials!

My mom and step dad take Izzy for planned and last minute sleep overs all the time so we make sure they are stocked with Izzy needs to make her stay easy peasy. She has diapers, clothes, cups, bibs, toys… EVERYTHING!

First thing’s first, sleep! Whether it’s nap time or bedtime you need to be sure that you have all of the things your baby needs. Izzy has her own toothbrush, towel, pjs and DockATot. One of the important things to also have is an extra DockATot cover. That way if she leaks through her diaper, it’s rare but it happens. Then my mom isn’t rushing to wash the cover before nap or bed. If you want to know more about the DockATot and why we love it you can read my post here. If you are wondering favorites for towels and pjs we have Zoocchini towels and Hanna Andersson Pjs. Izzy has been in their pjs since birth, I have a slight obsession.

How cute are these patriotic pjs from Hanna Andersson?

Another big deal, feeding time. Izzy is already foodie, like the rest of her family. So we make sure that Nana has cups, plates, silverware and of course a drying rack.

A brand I’m pretty obsessed with is bbox. They have amazing cups, silverware and portable drying racks. I’m loving this drying rack for my moms because it folds up easy when not in use and takes up very little space in her cupboard. The b.box essential baby spoons are soft silicone and Izzy’s favorite for self feeding right now. I also love all the fun colors they come in.

I’m excited to getaway without Izzy and just focus on Joe and I. It’s so important in a marriage. You can read more of my suggestions about the issue of finding/making couple time here.

  4. For some reason, this post makes me so excited to hopefully be a Grandma one day! I’m totally going to be that Grandma that does Grandma camp and takes the kids for a week and feeds them cookies and mac and cheese everyday. Haha!

Omg I always joke to my husband that you would think we were packing for a week when we bring our daughter for an overnight stay somewhere!
